How are kin-based societies structured? How are they organized politically?

Economic and power realtionship are structured by blood. Sons inherit their fathers lands / jobs, sozial status and political allies. Often the head of the family (clan) can deside what other members of the family most do or must not do, They organise marriages, work as judges,…
Politically an individual is only powerful through his family. The power of the family is dependent upon economic aspects or the number of members. One family/ clan supports one political movement or one politician. In democratic soceties the head of the clan organises whom every member of the clan has to vote (works that way in Afghanistan) in other countries the Head of the Clans meet and discuss/ deside.

The best available society of this sort today available for study is probably the Navajo. A complex matriarchy and there’s an accompanying political organization. It’s too lengthy to attempt to describe on YA but if you want a look at kin based societies you might be well advised to websearch it. Dineh, Din’e, Navajo, tribal structure, organization
